The excursions of the winter!

Bourinos - 18.11.01

A marvelous mountain heki by bikes, 40 km lasting 4 hours.

We started from Hromio and after a mild ascent we arrived to a point from where we could see the whole of the Valley of Messiano Nero of Bourinos.

Descending through high vegetation and pines we arrived to the refuge of Mountaineering Club of Siatista. After a new ascend on a damaged road, we arrived to a point, from where we could see the Vally of Grevena.

We ate in the cold air and started descending towards the village Palaiokastro. After a short while, on asphalted road, we arrived to our destination, Hromio Mt.

A wanderful path, where one meets all kinds of soils and technical parts. The only thing that amazed us was the sight of hunters to a place where hunting is supposed to be forbidden.

Kissavos Bentzion - 2.12.01

It snowed a lot yesterday, for the second time in the year. The fog stopped us from asceding somewhere high, so we decided to ascend Kisavos (kisa=rain), a low mountain, 1.170 m., in the prefecture Bentzion in Grevena.

We left the cars at Vari, a small village 18 km from Aiani. Walking South, in the mudded fields, we arrived at the first snow of Kisavos.

The mountain was burned last year and the remainders of the trees were dying our clothes. We arrived at the site Profitis Ilias after a half hour quick ascent, where we found an old closter, with a new one beside.

Walking on serpentites, we arrived ato the peak after 35 minutes. Threatening snow flakes came towards us, and it started getting dark. We ate in a calm place and started descending - we found a rabbit and 3 birds on the way! Finally we drank a tsipouro at the coffee shop "6,6" reminding the earthquake of 1995.

The snowed view of Bentzion was wanderful. One can do this hike during all seasons and can admire the view and the colours.
