| Chantal Mauduit, the famous 34-year old French climber, was found dead Saturday, at 6.200 m., aiming the Dhualagiri top... Together, also dead, was found her sherpa, in Camp II We had met Chantal Mauduit, with 5 over-8.000 m. peaks in her portfolio, accompanying the Greek expedition, which already returned following the tragic death of Nikos Papandreou. She afterwards walked along with the Spanish team, which had met with the Greeks in Base Camp. Chantal Mauduit was the first woman ever to reach the Lohtse Peak, May 10 1996, the very day when, a little further, 8 climbers of the american Everest team were disappearing.... |
